Google’s Search Now Getting More Social

This morning Google gave their realtime search it’s own domain which can be found at http://www.google.com/realtime

If you don’t know what Google realtime search is then you’re not alone, a lot of people don’t. Google’s realtime search is a search engine dedicated to finding information from social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, and Google Buzz.

I find that this move came at the perfect time for Google. Google has been bringing all of the tools together in one place and making them more “social”, and in order to make these tools more useful they needed to provide a way for users to search through these tools.

The only downside that I see right now is that I am not able to narrow down my search by social media tool. For example: If I want to find all posts about Google from only Google Buzz there is no way to do so at this time.

Overall I love the idea of realtime search and I look forward to seeing any changes that they add to this service.

Wordfeud On Android Gets An Update

Today Wordfeud users get the much anticipated feature of rematches. This may sound like a simple feature, but it really makes playing wordfued that much better and it has been one of the few things that have been missing from the game. The only thing left is a paid version so that I can get rid of these ads.

Do you play wordfeud? If so what is your username, mine is amaxwell01

Hit me up sometime if you want to play a game of scrabble.

A New Idea: Audible Sync

I have been listening to a lot of books lately on both my iPhone, Android, desktop, netbook and media center. Being able to listen to my audio books where ever I am is great, however one thing that Audible is lacking is the ability to sync up all players.

Imagine being able to listen to a book on your Android phone then switch to your work computer then to your netbook at home without skipping a beat. This is one thing that Audible can not do, however if they setup a streaming service then they could have a service similar to how Pandora is setup. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Geo-location On Blog Posts

With all of the social media services picking up geo-location I wonder how long it will be before services like Blogger, WordPress and Posterous will incorporate geo-location into their services.

I don’t travel to often so this feature would be very static for me, but for companies like Mashable, New York Times or other online based news services this could be very valuable. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Google Buzz: New Use Case

Lost Dog looking down a empty street I was thinking today about Google Buzz and how it can be used, and then it hit me. A great use for Google Buzz would be to locate garage sales or lost animals near by.

Thanks to Buzz being integrated into Maps, a person can create a post on Buzz with geo-location where they found a missing animal or if they are having a garage sale. And anyone who looks on Google Maps or the Nearby feature on the mobile app can find exactly what they are looking for nearby. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Chrome 6.0 Feature: Simple But Effective

Today when I started my computer and launched Google Chrome I noticed a simple orange dot on the wrench. After a few clicks I found out that there is a new beta release of Chrome and that orange dot was there to let me know. [Read the rest of this entry...]

The Power Of Buzz

I wonder if more people are going to check out Buzz today because of the little post by @laporte@gmail.com. Today Buzz is actually really showing it’s power in two ways. One is by the numerous users actually trying to help Leo out, and those who are against him. I personally am on the fence about this issue, I have offered some feedback on his buzz post and on the other hand I feel that he should have asked other users first before posting a blog post since he is so very influential. People Are Not Having Fun With Social Media Anymore

Bummed Out

I am pretty bummed today. It seems that people are trying to get more out of social media then a fun tool to interact with. It seems like they are putting all of their eggs in a basket without learning to actually weave a solid basket, causing all of their eggs to fall out.

What I mean here is that like many others, I do use Twitter, Buzz and other social networks as a way to promote my business, which is actually in it’s simplest form, me helping others. But other people who shall remain nameless take it as a means to an end, and that if it doesn’t work 100% all of the time so that they can just shout and hope for a response they throw a fit. This is what bothers me. Not because something wasn’t working for them (I do feel bad about that) but because they aren’t relaxing and having fun. If something is not working, do not whine and complain saying that it is a waste of time, look for a way to fix it. Too many people in this world take things for granted and then get upset. If we just relaxed and tried to fix our own problems or asked for help then things would be a lot less stressful.

Android App Of The Week – Hyper Jump

image This week I started to look into games on my Android phone and I came across Hypher Jump Lite. This game has very beautiful graphics and is easy to play, simply press start and your character is launched into the air. As your character rockets into the sky guide him left and right to collect coins and boost them higher and higher. Hyper jump is a great casual game when you need to kill some time. The only downfall I’ve seen is that the lite version asks you to upgrade after each round as well as having ads.
